Fragrant citrus, complex flint and nut aromas combine with a distinctive core of mineral, lemon and mealy characters to form a seamless palate. Fine-grained French oak and refined acidity create a tightly woven palate with understated concentration and length.

The cool weather during our spring months delayed the 2016 harvest, however, Marlborough was blessed with an Indian summer due to the El Niño weather patterns, consisting of high sunshine hours and dry conditions with cool night temperatures throughout the month of April. Across the Wairau Valley, the Acland vineyard is planted on premium gravel soils and the Sutherland vineyard planted on wind-blown loess over clay. In the Awatere Valley, the Taylors Pass Vineyard has alluvial-over-clay soil terraces, with notable river stones reflecting sunlight and heat back into the fruit zone.
Wood spices, ripe white stone fruit and apple, a light layer of stony minerality - a youthful engaging bouquet. Dry, firm, tense and youthful on the palate with flavours of baking spice, newish oak, citrus, stone fruit and spicy butter. Lots to engage in with a firm texture, medium+ acidity and oak. Still integrating and requiring some time -best from late 2019 through 2025. 91 points
