Syrah
Vintage 2021
Description
Winemaking
Distinguished by its bright, spicy flavours and elegant texture, New Zealand Syrah is fast becoming the darling of the international wine media. You’ll easily detect its intense varietal distinctiveness, crammed full of plum and savoury black pepper flavours and sometimes even a hint of violets.
2021 was an outstanding vintage in Hawkes Bay. The fruit was harvested, then destemmed with a mix of crushed and whole berry into stainless steel fermenters for fermentation with Rhone isolate yeasts. After pressing and malolactic, the wine was transferred to a mixture of tanks and seasoned oak barriques for maturation. After 20 months maturation on light lees, the wine was blended, lightly egg white fined and filtered before bottling.
