Riesling
Riesling is an aromatic white grape, grown most successfully in cooler climates.
Riesling wines can be produced in a wide array of styles ranging from bright, dry and food-friendly to luscious, mouthfilling honeyed examples.
Typical Riesling characteristics can include delicate citrus fruit, lemon and tantalising lime, with hints of seductive perfume and orange blossom. Honeyed notes can develop as wines age.
Regional characteristics
Villa Maria’s Riesling vineyards are scattered throughout both the Awatere and Wairau valleys of Marlborough. The vineyards are managed to ensure ripe and clean fruit.
Marlborough Riesling has a pure and delicate bouquet of ripe citrus-lime and spring blossom aromas. The palate is intense and beautifully balanced with concentrated lemon and lime tones.
