Pinot Gris
Pinot Gris is an intriguing variety with grapes that range in colour from grey-blue to rose pink.
The different styles of Pinot Gris wine can vary just as much as the grape colour (blue-grey to pink).
Crisp, light, dry examples of Pinot Gris are extremely food-friendly.
Mouth–filling, off-dry Pinot Gris wines, that leans towards the sweeter end of the spectrum, can be enjoyed on their own or with a cheese platter.
Regional characteristics
Our northern Pinot Gris growing regions: Gisborne and Hawkes Bay, produce grapes with citrus and stonefruit characters and soft acidity.
Our South Island Pinot Gris, grown in Marlborough, has strong aromatics with notes of pear and almonds, and contain higher acidity due to the cooler climate.
Food matching
Pinot Gris can be perfectly paired with lightly spiced Asian cuisine, or a fresh summer salad with diced crab meat.
