1995  Villa Maria becomes a founding member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand

1998 – Our Marlborough winery is built incorporating an energy efficient heat recovery system

1999 – Villa Maria embarks on our organic viticulture programme.

2004 – Our new Auckland winery is built using innovative heat recovery and night air cooling technologies.

2007 – Villa Maria obtains our first BioGro organic certification on a 21 hectares Hawkes Bay vineyard.

2009 – Villa Maria starts measuring carbon emissions using internationally recognised Carbon Emissions Measurement and Reductions Scheme. 

2009 – Villa Maria becomes NZ’s first major winery to be fully organically certified - from our vineyards to our export warehouse.

2010 – Villa Maria Director, Fabian Yukich, wins the Sustainable Champion Award at the Sustainable Business Network Awards.

2012 – Villa Maria is awarded Supreme Winner at the Ministry for the Environment and Department of Conservation’s Green Ribbon Awards

2012 – Villa Maria is awarded Supreme winner at the New Zealand Sustainable Business Network Awards.

2017 – Villa Maria receives Gold Standard Sustainable Tourism Qualmark.

2018 – Our new Hawkes Bay winery is built with a strong focus on sustainable design and energy efficient technologies
